I must have seen this film about twenty times between its cinematic release and the end of my University days, but not for the three years since. Until it was on 4 tonight.

And what a damn good film it is. Excellently cast, smoothly acted, inspirationally soundcast. Regulars in my journal will find me regularly scything on the film industry - this remains one of the four or five films that I can watch over and over again.

I remember a film review at the time that said something like "At it's best, it's like a good episode of Minder"

And that was supposed to be a criticism smiley - huh

For me, you can't get much better than that. And anything with Vas Blackwood in it gets my vote smiley - ok

Lock Stock in my opinion is one of the best British films ever made.

Shame about Snatch, really...

I didn't think "Snath" was that bad a film par se.... It is just that it added nothing new whatsoever to "Lock Stock".

BTW... Has anyone seen "Layer Cake"? I thought to myself "Ho hum, another crappy brit crime flick" but I actually thought it was pretty damn good.

I saw Snatch before I saw Lock Stock, so I've got a slightly different outlook on the films. On the whole I think I prefer LS, but I like the characters in Snatch better, especially Bricktop. Alan whatsisface really nails the character... and did you know he was Roosta in the original HHGTTG radio series?

I really do want to see Layer Cake but it hasn't played anywhere around here yet smiley - sadface And Sin City (which was actually *filmed* around here) is bloody marvelous.

I must confess I was a bit worried going to see Sin City. See I have been excited about it for ages....

Usually when I look forward to a film for donkeys years I feel let down. However Sin City really lived up to my expectations. Big style!!!!
