Christmas presents!

What books did you get for Christmas?
I got Robin Hobb's Fool's Errand
Muriel Grey's the Tricker
and some books about London! Do not pass go, Eccentric London and Sin City.
I didn't know which one to read first, and it took me until Boxing Day to pick on Fool's Errand. Which is great, it's the first book of her third trilogy, I love her world, it's really good. Her stuff is full of twists and turns and (rather soppily) I like the bonds of love that are between all the characters. More than simple friendship.
Anyone else?

I received from my sister 'Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book' and 'Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Journal', I think one is a reprint of the first book, the other is new. I have only just peeked at the artwork so far, but I'm off work all next week and should have plenty of time to get into them

I got 'Suomen Lasten Kalevala' by Kirsti Mäkinen, with beautiful illustrations by Pirkko-Liisa Surojegin...
*notices blank faces around her*
...I don't know if it's been translated yet, it's pretty new... and it's in Finnish...
I'm hoping it'll finally give me the inspiration I need to finish my entry on 'Kalevala'

I haven't heard of that last one, but I bought that pressed fairy book for my brother's girlfriend. There was even a sealed section of naked fairies.

Clive Barker - Abarat
M. Palin - Sahara
Biography of Miles Davis.
Want to get the Robin Hobb book or shall I wait until the whole trilogy is available?

I bought the Liveship Traders books when they were all out, and I read them all one after the other. It was nice not having to wait (and with my short-term memory being what it is) and forget what had happened. But buying them one by one as they come out is good too. And I'll get to read this one again when I buy the next one.
It is a fantastic series though, I haven't been able to put it donw for days. when I take Robin's books into work, I even read them on the escalator, and I've nearly missed the station a couple of times... Fantastic work.

I was surprised by how much I liked them. I only brought the first trilogy because they were cheap in WH Smiths. Read them and then got the Liveships in one fell swoop as well!
Is it me or did the 3rd Liveships book end really suddenly?

Yes, I think there's another few stories in that saga as well! Strange that the 6 Duchies haven't spotted the new dragons flying about...

Hopefully! I really enjoyed the book, and read it straight through. Apparently the next one is out, but in hardback. I'm going to force myself to wait as the rest of my collection is in paperback, and when I finally get some bookshelves I want them proudly lined up in a row for easy reading.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
