But I'm rubbish! I can try and get people motivated at this end but when it comes to locations etc. that will have to be in a local's court (B'Ellana?)

If 2legs can organise a London meet from Cambridgeshire, you can organise a German meet from London. Obviously you'll need some local knowledge re locations (just as I scouted the pub for 2legs) but it's the coordination and getting people signed up, keeping them informed etc. that you can do.

Crivvens. How do I get myself into these things? Right, I shall consider starting the relevant thread and hassling the likely candidates (may need help identifying them, I haven't been here long!) but not until the current feline issues are resolved.
