h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi Emmily,

I don't know what's going on with my membership. I still can't post to my journal - when I hit the link to make a Journal entry I get taken to a fairly blank page, with placeholders for images that haven't filled in. I signed out, just in case I was signed in via POV, and re-signed in.

I'm wondering if there's some confusion because I changed my handle at one stage - the POV board kept kicking me off every time I tried to reply to a post, I think I had a Trojan at the time
). When I first joined POV (and h2g2) my posting name was RunningDog2. Is there any way of checking that?

JFYI - Tried signing out again, and signed in as RunningDog2 (my previous incarnation) and it gave me a Personal Space page, but it had none of my info and I still couldn't post to my Journal.

Hmmm not sure what the porblem is - when you click 'Add Jounal Entry' (I'm using Alabaster skin, yours may say something slightly different) you should get the following:

Here you can talk about what you're thinking of doing, what you think about what you're thinking of doing, and when you're thinking of doing it, because, unlike Guide Entries, Journal Entries are associated with specific points in time.

Think of your Journal as your personal diary. If you want to preserve your writing in a more permanent format you might like to create a Guide Entry, but remember that everything you write is always part of the Guide, and other visitors to your page can still read what you've said, and discuss it.

Is this your other Space/page U1496822 if it is, your recent conversations wouldn't be on this name, unless you were using that name to reply, or subscribe to the conveersation.

I hoped that it might be because I hadn't enabled the Sun Java Console, but I've tried it both ways now (Sun Java Console, and Microsoft VJM) and still get nothing. I've taken a screenshot, which I've put here

Traveller - I started out as a member of POV, then joined h2g2. My details seemed to be copied across from my POV membership, but I am def'ny an h2g2 member. Other POV members have tried to get a personal page that they can post to, but haven't been able. So my personal page is to do with my h2g2 membership.

I'm really wondering if it's something to do with my internet connection, because I can't get to book online with Ryan Air either. My daughter has tried using her laptop, and can't book using the internet connection here, but if she goes into college and connects her laptop in there, she can access the booking page no prob.

lol, think I'm goin' nuts. Thought the simplest thing to do would be to make a completely new account, RunningDog4. Got auto message saying that the name and password was recognised, please answer the secret question (i.e. my mother's name). Well...I've tried every combination of my mother's name that I can think of, and no dice, so that account has been closed down for half an hour.

It's a piss-poor lookout when you can't remember your own mother's name Maybe I used her married name. Anyhoo, I can scratch RunningDog4 off the list.

Hooray, just tried that link again on my home page, and suddenly it's working!!!!
