Just got that phone call that you dread getting.

Dai: " Now, don't worry, I'm OK....but the bike's in bits"

Stupid car driver pulling out of a petrol station didn't see him smiley - grr

Off to pick him up (gently, and metaphorically) now. Full report later.

Cripes. Good news that Dai's OK, but bad news about the bike. I know how much bikes mean to bikers (I feel the same way about guitars: MY BABIES!)

smiley - cuddle

Thank you all, my darlings.

He's OK, the driver was an 85 year old codger who probably shouldn't be behind a wheel. That's the first time Dai's been off a bike in 30 years. He's a bit sore and bruised, and the emotional trauma of "what if it had been a micro-second earlier.." well, we don't go there.

Bike's a mess - I was very brave and had a look at it. Ouch.

Well the bike's easily replaced so best to concentrate on that. Glad he's only shaken and bruised, accidents like this make us appreciate the good things in life all the more.smiley - hugsmiley - goodluck

Can't help getting the idea of an 85 year old boy racer out of my head...

I'm glad he's ok.

Ouch! Glad to hear he wasn't badly hurt. I seriously think that after 70 or so, there should be an annual driving test. So many old ones are reluctant to stop driving. In a way it's understandable, and for lots of old people it's their lifeline etc., but it is a serious risk to other road users.

Sho - employed again!

smiley - yikes
same think happened very recently to a friend of mine, bike a write off, and an 80 year old driver.
smiley - grr

Glad Dai's ok though.

Car drivers suck.

Sho - employed again!

not all of us...
car drivers who don't give bikers (and cyclists) enough room suck...

Nah, speaking as someone who's been driving cars rather than bikes recently, car drivers suck. Even I sucked as a car driver. It's the windscreen effect, viewing everything through a rectangular viewing frame makes it less real andmore like something you're watching on TV.

You can call me TC

Give him a big smiley - hug from me, too. Hope he recovers soon - he's had enough bother lately without this.

Thank oo, will do.

Bob, you're so right - there's a huge difference in driving a car and riding a bike. Jeremy Irons was on Wossy last Saturday (yes I know, it's my age), who said you have to ride like you're invisible.

Hi there, i'm just catching up with my conversations and i've just read about poor Dai. Glad he's physically not too bad but i'm sure the damage to his poor bike is causing him just as much pain as his actual injuries!!. Please pass on a big hello to him and my well wishes.
