Not getting online as much these days - can't at new job, and far too busy in the evenings.

New job is a challenge, although sometimes I think I'm too much in awe of these IT geeks - managed to impress one of my team yesterday by knowing how to wrap text in Excel smiley - huh

But highly complex meetings at 9.30 am do not go with drinking the night before. So I've really cut down on my alcohol intake. It's something that I've been meaning to do for ages, but never did, whether because I was scared of how hard it would be, or...I do know I used it a lot as a crutch.

Anyhow, week 2 (I still drink at weekends!) and I'm feeling good. I know I'm losing weight (hey I've just cut out about 500 calories a day), my skin and eyes are looking brighter, and my bank balance will see the benefits as well (about £5 a day? You do the math). And I'm wide awake and raring to go at 7 a.m. And get more done around the house in the evenings - can't sew or iron after a few wines.

Kids are driving me absolutely berserk, but that's a different matter. And the solution to that does not lie in a bottle of Chardonnay.

Erm, cheers!

You can call me TC

*hides whisky bottle behind back*

That's very clever, Milla, but why would one want to read a text from bottom to top (unless writing the prologue for a Star Wars episode?). How *DO* you get it to do that?

Typical IT smiley - geeks, though, innit - can programme a lot of useless stuff but have no idea what the stuff that's there can be used for. Hands up everyone who's ever been asked by an IT geek "what do you want to do that for?"

Well, as you know I may well be classified as a smiley - geek and I just love that fuzzy warm feeling you get inside for your good deed of the day.

So whilst I don't advocate posting your excel questions in Lucky's PS, it's as good a place as any.

In any case - good going you there in Northern (but not far enough north for my liking if it were me) Ireland smiley - cheerupsmiley - magic

I want to know more about Milla's top to bottom skills too! Do tell, dear heart!

I'm reassuring myself that part of being a team is bringing my own particular skills to it, rather than replicating what they already have. So today I identified a risk, did some warm fuzzy team stuff with my little group, as well as some tedious admin, did some serious QA on our w*rkcharts including pedantic spell-checking, and brightened the place up with my pink cowboy boots smiley - coolsmiley - diva

And the bright spot of my day was Dai unexpectedly dragging me out for coffee and giving me a present: I'd moaned about the unexplained disappearance of an Easter Egg , and he gave me a fab Lindt chocolate bunny with a bell around its neck so I can hear if it gets pinched smiley - laugh

Oh, and that wouldn't happen to be an After8 egg that's gone missing would it? (and i thought i got away with sneaking it back out again- I've been bringing that very same egg to people's houses for yearssmiley - laughsmiley - winkeye)

No no, the After 8 egg is still safe (and thank you so much for bringing it smiley - hug)

A drink or 2 on Sunday evening is still on the cards smiley - cheers . Keep meaning to email you the details, but it's Ulster Hall, 6 pm kick-off. Dai won't be there if he's feeling well enough to bike, in which case he'll be biking for charrridddeee around the coast road, but if he's not well enough to do that, then he'll be joining us to spread his germs amongst us, the poppet.

Thank oo.

But you see, here I am on a Thursday night, I went to a ladies network and pampering evening, which had a glass of wine reception, and then another one over dinner, and here I am with glass number 3 in hand...old habits die hard.

Sho - employed again!

yes, but the point is, I think, not to do it every night. Isn't i?

I had a glass of prosecco with my dinner last night, first alcohol in yonks and yonks - it made me quite squiffy!

Anyway, good on you and as you know when something has become almost a habit, it doesn't un-habit itself over night.

Plus next time, you'll go in with a bottle of water in your hand, so nobody offers you a drink, and your not without "a drink" in your hand.

Yeah, twas OK, I'm not beating myself up about it.

as you righjtly point out Sho, the aim was to cut down (and get under control) rather than to cut out completely.

Friday morning I did successfully catch the 8.27 train for the first time, and was at my desk at quarter to 9 ready for a 9 o'clock meeting. So no negative impact on w*rk.
