Once upon a time, everybody went to the nuptial mass - fasting. So the meal immediately after that was at what we would call brunch time and was a break-fast smiley - star

Trust me with all the hub bub of getting ready for the big day the receptioon may very well be the first meal of the day for anyone in the wedding party, the last minute preparations and glitches you have to sort out are quite amazing at times.

Best advice is to get married at 11.00am and then the glithes all have to have taken place by then, and no-one gets too hungry and ratty.

Unfortunately with the prevalence of evening dos, these days, it means you either don't have one (shock!) or it is an incredibly long day for everyone (horror!)
