I did a James Bond in a cinema once, and it was all I could do to not laugh... it was funny!

I know, I was just teasing...
Yeah, Bond films are supposed to be ed at... The point is that they're funny, and people don;t take them TOO seriously...

Back to a point on Spiderman, in the cartoons it was a gadget in his suit, in the film it's actually sort of like holes in his wrists that squirt the web. You see it a bit, but not for long enough to look at it. Whereas the spikes on his finger tips are made obvious.
MIB2 does look funny, but then the combination of Will Smith and Tommy Whatever is funny in itself.
As for sequals... Jaws?

Never saw that; I was just at the age where parents still dictated film watching!

Downloaded the trailer for that last night. Took me for phaffing ages, it went by in a shot and it told me nothing. Typical teaser trailer really.

Tommy Lee Jones is the name you're thinking of Pastey. Don't know if he's related to a Bobby-Ray or a Billy-Bob or whatever though...

Its directed by Ang Lee, he of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Ice Storm. I keep meaning to look at that one.

Talking of Chinese things, has anyone here read Wild Swans by Jung Chang?

Bluebottle Posted May 23, 2002
I fear not, VIP...
There's nothing wrong with "The Lost World" - its my favourite film of 1925, and the 1933 remake, "King Kong", isn't bad either. (Or did you mean "Jurassic Park: The Lost World", where unlike "The Lost World", a film in which a group go on a rescue mission to a plateau in South America that's full of dinosaurs, is about a group going on a rescue mission to an island off South America that's full of dinosaurs?)
And, my Fishy Friend, the point I was making is that "I will kick your arse/butt" is an expression which I really cannot stand. It is a sloppy, mickey mouse expression with no redeeming qualities, and is too cheesy even to be a cliche. It is used too often simply because it appeals to the lowest common denominator.
Words have meaning, and as a law student you quickly learn that words have tremendous power - a single word can make the difference between what you want to happen and what people can get away with. The expression "Kick bottom" fails as a threat as it does not prevent the person whose bottom (henceforth to be known as the kickee) has been kicked picking up a chain saw immediately afterward and chopping the kicker's legs off.

OK then BB, cliches. lets start with all of the ones in your statement shall we?
1 'fear not'
2 'mickey mouse expression'
3 'lowest common denominator'
what kick arse has going for it is brevity, sharpness and just a little rudeness.
now think about the expression 'f*ck off'
what does that mean? 'go away in a very pleasureable manner'
you may as well tell us to really enjoy our supper as an insult...

"Go stick your head in a Pig" anyone?
Ok, BB, I take your point... But still, despite your quite reasonable and well tought objections to that phrase, this society is NOT a Dictatorship, and as such we all have (within certain restraints) freedom of speech. So my original statement still stands as it was MY opinions and thoughts..., despite either social, gramatical, or your objections... ???
Anyway, Go away very quickly, whilst not tripping over anything or injuring yourself at all. Proceeding to a very nice restauraunt and having a very fine 12 course dinner on me....
