Every morning, when I arrive in my office, C. has turned the heating on to the maximum.
S. doesn't mind, she's sensitive to cold too.
I'm not, but I know they are, so I just wear short sleeves.
Now, I'm no science expert, but I *think* turning the heating on makes sense if you make sure that the heat stays inside.
If you put both radiators in the office on maximum power but you leave the door open, it won't work as well.
C. has trouble understanding that.
S. has explained it.
I have explained it.
Several times each.
Still not working.
Seeing as C. is the one who goes in and out of the office approximately 27 times an hour (need a coffee, need to talk to someone, need a break, need some fresh air, need to put the heating on in the meeting room, need to check if the meeting's started yet even though all the colleagues are still at their desks, .............)
... So, a lot of air is displaced, and a lot of heat is lost.
Last week, S. resorted to sticking an A4 sheet on the door, on which she'd written, "Please C., would you PLEASE shut the ing door when you go in and out, PLEEEEEEAAAAAAASE ?!!!!".
That didn't work.
But today, when she left the office for the 86th time, she went "Shall I shut the door?".
We'll get there some day. I just hope I don't die of old age before we do.

Notepad gets the door thing Though she doesn't usually give the front door the extra little push to fully close it. So, quite often, if the dog had been let out, she lets herself back in! *Then* the cry of "Close the door!" starts...

new A4 sign!
cold office tax - anyone leaving door open on cold days pays "X" amount to the purchasing of warm clothing for the rest of the staff

Just to be provocative:
I'm with C - I don't like closed doors. Not that I'm claustrophobic, but I don't like being hemmed in. I also prefer to have ALL the lights on - no dark corners.....

I have nothing against leaving the doors open, that's what I'd prefer too.
But if you're going to do that, don't waste energy by overheating the office to compensate for the heat loss. Pull on a jumper.
But dark corners, yes, that's another thing altogether.

86th times always a charm! Personally I hate being hot, I'd take the door off the hinges and sabotage the heaters!

I remember, back in the olden days, far further back in time than you'd imagine, when nobody ever thought to turn off the radiators in our classroom, but certain teachers - those fresh air devil types, would march in and demand all the windows to be fully opened, so our heads and necks would end up freezing in icy gales.
You'd think your colleague would get warm him/herself with all the walking about that s/he does.
