I'm popping by as one of the assistant community editors or <./>aces</.> here. We greet newbies such as yourself and help you get settled. Take your time reviewing Feisor's list of Hints and Links at A719840. And stop to examine the various features in the process as there're a good many things to see'n'do. Just a couple examples are the assortment of <./>smileys</.> and our newspaper <./>thepost</.>. However those are only two!
Further down the list you'll find The h2g2 Post's Links Page. That'll reveal numerous other points of interest, including the Reserchers'
