I think it's a great Entry. What a sad little tale
Thank you for sharing though.
As far as reviewing, I couldn't find fault. Just some EG links (a recent Entry on slavery comes to mind) would help put some more background knowledge into possible questions asked while reading

It's a beautiful story, of our most shameful period in history.

A very touching entry, this. I presume all the 'errors' are faithful reproductions of archaic English, ie. 'died *in* his arrival' rather than died *on*?

Yes - it's a nice one. He must have been valued to be given a marker, rather just buried in an unmarked plot.
Wilberforce grabs a lot of the credit for stopping the slave trade, but it was the Quaker women who did really started the groundswell against slavery.

Thanks all
Mackay - I've slightly re-worded the Wilberforce reference.
Iaconian, yes, I tried to reproduce the inscription as etched. Here's a link to a photo of the original, for your information:

I could add those long S's in the first blockquote. I think there's a supported character for those.

... forgot to say - you were right about "in his arrival" - my transcribing error.

Nice article; concise, informative and tugs at a heart string or two. What a desolate place to end your days. Heaven for Wildfowlers, Hell for an African slave.
