According to Amazon the S2 DVD is out on 20th November, which would have been my dad's birthday, he was a big Dr Who fan, he used to scare me by putting a saucepan on his head and going
"EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE" I was only 5 years old at the time

We could spend the time speculating about how bovvered the Doctor is going to be about what happened at the end of Doomsday?

Exterminate her, delete her, either way the world would be a better place without her!
How many days to wait? Far too many!!!

Can't we just go dipping into the Tardis and scatter her atoms throughout all the different dimensions?
Is this overkill?

Her bridesmade is Screaming Mel for the Colin Baker era and and the Dr ejects them into a black hole

I'm sensing a little negativity towards the Xmas show's guest star...
Be grateful for what you've got - I'm going abroad in September, all I'm going to see for the next year at least are subtitled/dubbed repeats of the last two series!

I didn't know it was Catherine Tate until the end credits.
Surely it's her "comedy characters" you all hate ... she might actually be quite good, you never know

That's what comes of being typecast I suppose
I'm just expecting her to drive the insane with her "Am I bovvered"

>I'm sensing a little negativity towards the Xmas show's guest star...< - The bridehad better be good at running
>Surely it's her "comedy characters" you all hate< - quite right, I'm reserving judgment for now, but I'm hoping aginst hope they don't make it into a comedy episode just to allow the crossover.

The thing is, when they're known for a catchphrase, you can hear it in your head, even if they don't say it.
Like when "Moaning Myrtle" was on Taming of the Shrew and Doctor Who I was expecting her to take off, and fly round the room shrieking.
For those who don't know CT, her show is on BBC2 tonight at 9.30pm. Her humour is "Little Britain" type, the sort Richard Madeley falls off his sofa over, not my
at all.
I'm truly grateful she's not the new companion. Who, by the way, is one of the selectees to be voted for being added to Celebdaq this week (you have till Friday evening to vote)

Yep, just like they had Billie Piper burst into song every episode.

They put Peter Kay in a comdey episode, and it was an awful pile of festering vomit... so it's not like there isn't a precident.

Me too. I believe Mr D. may have a touch of the Exzeema.
No idea who Catherine Tate is, couldn't care less if she's a comedy type with an irritating catchphrase. Sylvester McCoy used to put ferrets down his trousers for a living and yet he turned out to be a rather effective Doctor. I think I can stand a comedian I don't know for one episode. I hadn't really been aware of Peter Kay as a comedian either, so Victor Kennedy was a bit of a triumph.
(Awaits the anti-McCoy storm, question-mark umbrella at the ready).

Okay let me justify that comment.
I liked the Elton episode - I admit it - I was laughing most of the way through. and I knew perfectly well who was playing Victor Kennedy so I've nothing against a comedy episode per se or comedy actors taking parts. I did say I was reserving judgement.
That said, I'm am however hoping that at no point do they contrive the plot to get an "Am I bothered?" out of her. The last Christmas episode obviously had to deal with the regeneration of the doctor but this Christmas the stage will be less set up so I think expressing a concern is okay because we know so little heading into it just so long as it's clear that my concern implies nothing more than something I personally don't wish to see.
In other news, some of my earliest memorys of Who on TV are of Sylvester McCoy - I'm predisposed to like him for no greater critical reason than that.
