Went looking for work yesterday. Found it.
Will be stripping floors and waxing them part time at an army base for a gentleman I know from church.

May have another part time job in the offing. The hardware store I used to work for has fired it's only full-time employee, the manager of ten odd years, and is hiring part-timers to help keep the store open while the accountant tries her best. The owner will not drag his silly butt in there, as he has other businesses to ruin.

Shnooks has begun High School. Has met her first student reeking of the weed and has a pregnant freshman in one of her classes. Welcome to the jungle.

Doing floors gives a nice quiet conrete visual gratification when the job is done.

You write about mechanical things from time to time, usually cars or large things though.

We have some large and fascinating hardware stores not of the typical chain store type. I would prefer to spend hours in them rather than most other types of girlie stores. You can learn so much as you look!

How about working with the general public?
They can be rather strange!

Little bit of performance jitters here, as I really don't like working with a crew I don't know. There are many things that "men" are supposed to know how to do that I don't remember how, not having done them in a bit.

Abbi, I worked in hardware stores twice, for a total of about four years.
I don't mind the customers or the messing with money, or the fiddley bits about parts and nuts and bolts. What I mind is dealing with managers and owners and silly bits of politics with co-workers.

Good sound business advice.
I know a gentleman in the heating and air conditioning business who did just that.
His previous endeavor tanked because of his "help". When he recovered from that debacle, he reentered the business world with himself as his only active employee. He has a relative answer the phone and make appointments, but that's it.
