The following is a tell all tale from the diary of Leaf E. Greens.

There I was enjoying the late summer sun. Suddenly, I was grabbed
from behind, snatched up and tossed into a large basket by the palace
gardener.

Next thing I knew, I was in a room full of strangers, all of them rushing
about and muttering something about dinner. The room was hot and
noisy. Someone mentioned cole slaw. Then, everyone went quiet. A
rather well dressed man entered the room and had a look around.
Everyone bowed to him as they said "Your Highness".

This stranger picked me up and admired my coloring. That was how I met
the king. We spent many hours together over the next few months.

Alas, seasons changed. Autumn had turned to winter. Winter turned to
Spring. The king no longer looked at me the way he used to. One
morning I found myself in the stew pot as a young lettuce took my
previous place.

Lettuce think about the seductive powers that succulent fresh vegetables have over us. smiley - bigeyes

(I have salad for breakfast four days a week. Now that I'm used to it, I can't imagine any other way of breakfasting.)

I like vegetables. I have even roasted parsnips and fried turnips. Did you know that fried turnips taste sweet?

The tale of Leaf E. Greens was something that I wrote in about three minutes several years ago while chatting with someone online about other writing projects we were working on at the time. I did email the story to them.

Using cabbage is one way to get a head.

Simple, ordinary ingredients can taste quite special when you know the right way to season them. What I like about life is that just when you think you've figured out all the best ways of doing things, you discover one more helpful hint that makes a big difference. smiley - smiley
