The LSU Tigers won last night, 49-3. That means 11-0 with just one or two more games this season. The next game is 25 November. I hope that one will be televised.
This morning it dampish. There is a thick fog and a mistiness with temperatures around 70F. It's 8:30 a.m.
Soon, I will have to get out in that to go to the store for a few things, including a Sunday newspaper and a bottle of drain cleaner. After that is some house stuff and cooking a turkey.
There was a very good deal on turkeys, buy one get one free, which brings the price to .74 a pound. The turkeys were frozen solid. They have been in the fridge. Now the turkeys are defrosted and in need of cooking. I plan to cut them before cooking so they can be cooked with different seasonings and different ways. This also decreases cooking time a lot. After they are cooked, I plan to package them for the freezer. On Thursday all I have to do is pick a package of pre cooked turkey and make my holiday dinner.
Then there will be the post cooking clean up and dish washing.
That's the day I'm planning to have. Let's see what actually happens.

You are very good at planning ahead, Evangeline. Organizational skill seems to be your strong point.

Hello, everyone.
For a minute there I almost typed 'how y'all are'.
Went to store, A bottle of drain cleaner and the last Harry Potter movie later the sink was fully functional.
One 21 pound turkey is in the oven, divided into four pans. In the roaster is the turkey breast. One glass pan is the dark meat. The wings and other bits are in the third pan. The fourth pan is the organs and neck. The organs will either go into gravy, dressing or pets. The neck will most likely end up cooked down for stock to make whatever else I feel like cooking between now and Thursday. when that's done and cooled it will go into the fridge and freezer. Tomorrow will be a repeat of this with the other turkey and my freezer will be full for quite some time.
Ordinarily, I wouldn't bother with this much cooking. These were a good deal. Whole turkeys aren't available the rest of the year and the parts that are available more of the year are three times the price of these or more.

But you're doing it on Monday. There are still a few days left in which to work on other parts of the meal.

There is still: Potato salad (family tradition), Roasted root vegetables (leftovers are good in soup), Garlic bread, Dressing (cornbread or rice), Salad or steamed vegetables, Pie or just baked apples.
There might be more. Anything I don't feel like making on the day will be omitted. I think I have all the main ingredients. Still need to get milk.
When it gets colder, I'm making turkey gumbo.

It might be cold enough to make gumbo Wednesday night, Thursday night or Saturday night. The expected lows are 46F and 48F.
It has been raining for almost 4 hours. No fog warning for tomorrow.

We had a lot of rain last night. Is gumbo-making unbearable when the temperature is high? Over the years, I've gravitated to gumbo recipes that don't call for okra. Now I find that okra is one of the few dark green vegetables that won't interfere with the Warfarin that I have to take. The only okra recipe I ever enjoyed was a curried okra dish that I had at an Indian restaurant. I don't know if they would share their recipe with me. Probably not.
