Propaganda: Duel

It was great to hear mention of Propaganda again. I remember hearing "Duel" on the radio during the summer of '85 and rushing out to buy the single. Everyone I knew thought I was crazy buying something so "off the wall" and *German* but I loved the tune. I still do, I think it has an almost timeless quality about it. I am actually not familiar with any other singles by them.
Incidentally for a couple of years the BBC have used a very hacked and sliced version of "Duel" (and instrumental) for their rally-driving segments on BBC Sport. The BBC wouldn't confirm that this was "Duel" but it's too close to be a coincidence.

I completely agree - Duel is a fantastic song - the 12" remix is brilliant (in case you don't have it). The LP it comes from (A Secret Wish) is pretty good and the other singles are well worth having but Duel is certainly Propaganda's finest hour.
Sky's current advertisements for one of their Box Office films (a lakeside thriller starring Harrison Ford and, I think, Michelle Pfeiffer (sp?), the name of which I can't quite remember) has Dr Mabuse by Propaganda trilling away in the background. Another good song.
I didn't know about the BBC rally segments - are they still using it? I can see why they chose it, though.

In the middle of the 80ies Simon le Bon (Duran Duran, Arcadia) was on a yacht called Drum, in some kind of boat race. Anyway there was a 25 minute or so documentary feature on danish television where I remember that Propaganda's P:Machinery was used. This amused me a lot then, as I would've expected the producer to pick something by Duran Duran.
I would not mind to see a rerun of the documentary and I believe it was called Drum after the boat.
BBC Prime and BBC World are on cable TV so all I need is a broadcasting date somewhere in the future....
Maybe other people can spot more use of Propaganda on tv and radio?

The Propaganda single Duel was also used on Channel 4's American Football programme in (I think) 1986. This was the first time I heard it anyway.

Strictly speaking...it was 'Jewel' that was used on the American Football prog.
And although Dual, Jewel, P Machinery etc..were damn good songs...Dr Mabuse was THE song to come out of ZTT even better than the Frankie stuff.
There was another album called 'Outside World' that was a total remix album....awesome stuff.
And yet another album...un-named..but available in certain places (I have it for starters)..and it is almost as good as A Secret Wish..some excellent unreleased trax on it.
