Yesterday I decided to go see a matinee (Kinsey). It was raining and cold when I left the house, and by the time I reached the movie theater, a few tiny pieces of sleet had hit the windshield. I should have turned around and gone home then, but I thought, oh it will never accumulate. Wrong! When I came out a couple hours later, there was nearly an inch of ice on the roads. It made for a white knuckle ride home. Bumper to bumper, 10 mph, stop and start for an hour and a half. I was sooooo scared I would hit someone, or someone would hit me. But I made it home okay. Yay! My poor brother on the other hand left work at 2pm and didn't get home till 7pm. He used up an entire tank of gas trying to get home. But he made it too.

What an ordeal for you.
I am glad you made it home safe.
Stay warm! It is below zero here tonight.
I have 3 layers of clothes on

Hi JEllen. I'm glad to hear you made it home safe. Has it melted off yet or is it really cold there too?
Wow, I didn't know you were in below zero land too, abbi! We haven't seen zero all day, I don't think and I've had 3 layers on too.
I hear some places are having record snows right now. Not here. Just cold.

Its unseasonably warm where we are. Maybe its the warm before the storm! Take all of you in your icy cold places, no slipping allowed!

It's cold up here in K-town, but we didn't get the sleet and ice. Our weather is so weird. It hits the plateau, and either pushes on over and covers us, goes around us into the mountains, or stalls out.
We heard the power lines were covered with up to a half inch of ice out your way, I hope there weren't many power outages! That's when it really gets bad.
Glad you and your brother made it home safely. The force must have been with you! No more often than you folks get those type of driving conditions, I know it was nerve wracking for EVERYBODY on the road. If it was like it is up here, there was that occasional idiot who didn't know they should slow down, and scared everyone half to death.

Wow, that must have been horrible. I hate it when the weather suddenly turns like that. It's usually when I'm not wearing boots and I've left my gloves at home.
Glad you and your brother are ok though.

Wow - sounds like rough weather! Interestingly there was rough weather here in Pietersburg yesterday as well. It rained almost for an entire day! Over here it's Summer of course. I went shopping with my parents and we all got quite wet.

But of course that's nothing as bad as the conditions you describe!
Here in South Africa I've never yet seen snow. It does hail on occasion though, sometimes quite badly. But the outside temperature hardly ever drops below freezing.

It hasn't been a white Christmas here in Jerusalem (or in Bethlehem, for that matter *shrug*), just a rather wet one. Has been grey and raining most of yesterday.
But we _might_ get snow later this winter, maybe around February or so... oh, I'm sure we will. I'm always sure, it's such a fun thing to believe!
