Hi y'all!
Saw a great exhibit this past week. Blue Dog: The Art of George Rodrigue. He's an artist from New Orleans, and boy is he good. The exhibit is at the Dixon, and is very large. It covers his early brooding Southern landscapes, his Cajun portraits, his nudes, his abstract hurricane paintings, and the famous pop icon Blue Dog. All very cool stuff! Google Blue Dog to get an idea of his work. Here's a link to my favorite piece in the show:

Hi...missed that earlier. How've you been? And when do you move?

Ellen Posted Sep 4, 2007
I've been good. I'm moving in December. Mmmm, I can't wait, it will be neat. I already have a bunch of stuff packed.

Hi Jellen & jazz!
Ooh, i *adore* the expression on Blue Dog's face; so very "what the fook?? is going on? But i'm not *that* scared; honest"
Great that you are into an phase JEllen; i reckon we do evolve into this state, go through all the crap stuff & then emerge into the...arrgh, how to describe...you sort of get all the life mangled out of you with utter day to day garbage, then crawl out & find there's a little pot of the heavy stuff you put to one side & the miracle is that you can use it to express very sharply. Like extremely jagged, pointed, screamy loud colours. And loud music with multi-layers. Oh so Kandinsky!
This makes totally No Sense except to those who also know.
Listening to "Working Class Hero" right now....The new Green Day version, i wonder how many people picked up on that they subtly changed the lines from:
"A working class hero is something to be"
to
"A working class hero is something to fear"
???????
Have a listen.

Music, art, literature, any means of people making their voice felt in a creative way which connects with the sentiments of others is a vital human right in my view. And i will defend to the death the right of anyone else to disagree with me.
Life gets very confusing & synchronistic & beautiful & tragic & magical sometimes.
*End of sermon*

Hello Terri! As for '...people making their voice felt in a creative way which connects...' I think you'd like the performance poet I saw-he certainly connected!-last Sun.(& like the writer, I too saw him for the first time last year...I'm kind of addicted now) - oh right, Jem Rolls Aug. 20th...not the same night I saw him but the same show'n'all

No blue dogs there, but some cool cow-patterned wallpaper.

Susanne - if it ain't broke, break it! Posted Sep 4, 2007
Hi everyone!
A friend of mine is looking for some pictures to hang on her (very plain) walls in her flat, I'll go and suggest the blue dog motive, I think she'll like it...

Looks very cool, JEllen! I'll have to look up more of his stuff.
I've got a JEllen original hanging on one of my walls.

Wow. Gallows humour or what?
I reckon there are sunspots or something at the moment; us loopy arty types seem to be in our element!
Do excuse me, i have Clash doing "should i stay or should i go now" at full blast right now, with the door open, innocent passers by are climbing over the walls to the Nuns in order to escape...
Poor ikkle ordinawy peeple.

>Wow. Gallows humour or what?<
I wasn't joking, though- I've a lovely painting JEllen did for me, and it's framed and hanging over my kitchen table.
I don't know how you can handle music that loud in your house, my Wooh. While I enjoy a nice gig (with earplugs firmly in place), I can't tolerate loudness in confined spaces- no blasting the hi-fi at home, and definitely no blasting of the car radio.
