remembering the TV series about B&B owners pitted in competition against each other. one week of which featured the Dickens House in Broadstairs; it was run, probably still is, by twin sisters who came across as a bit "colourless", not exactly vibrant outgoing personalities. You got the impression that these are the twin sisters out of "The Shining", all grown up, but brought up by Mr Pooter... the pther thing I recall about Broadstairs is that it houses Morelli's, probably the very best Italian ice-cream place anywhere in Britain. But the town as a whole suggests the sisters who run the Dickens House - who manage to be very attractive but completely bland and preoccupied by trivia, at the same time - are typical residents...
