The Intermittent Return of Light
Lighthousegirl - back on board Started conversation Nov 13, 2004
I don't even want to think about how long ago it was I last posted here! All I know if that it was way too long ago
So much has happened this year and life has continued to provide an exciting roller coaster ride.
I am now living in a new Lighthouse in a different part of the country. He who makes the light in the lighthouse shine even brighter (here after to be referred to as OJ since He who is somewhat of a mouthful) have now purchased a of our own. Earlier this year we moved into a rented house while we looked for this , its in a village (but by my standards a large one) and we have fields to the side of the house. My favourite room is the conservatory that runs the width of the house - fantastic. The whole place needs some serious redecoration and we have a fair amount of work to do. The previous occupants smoked and had rather dubious taste in decor. We have only done a couple of rooms so far. The sitting room - it used to be the colour of a camel who smoked 500 a day and then decided to add a splash more colour by rolling in dung It looks so much nicer in a warm cream with a bright raspberry behind the fireplace. We have changed the light fittings and I sprayed the brass fire surround so its now a pewter colour. All we need now is a new sofa ...
We have also done the main bedroom. It used to have a shag pile green carpet with a swirly pattern, rather like you would find in a dodgy Indian restaurant, complete with the brown stains (probably not curry being as it was a bedroom ...). This was teamed with a bright pale blue flock wallpaper with a flower pattern. The fitted wardrobes took up a lot of room and did not actually have much storage in them so they were the first thing to go. We had intended to take them out through the door, however one escaped from OJ via the ceiling so we had to get some help repairing it! When we stripped all the wall paper I am sure we gained about an inch all round the room. Until we are sure what carpet we want through the house we have had the carpet from the conservatory put in the bedroom – its brown and non descript. Luckily the bedroom is not overlooked at all – we don't have curtains yet and its lovely going to bed and looking at the 's.
I have also changed jobs – still for the same company and I am really enjoying it even if the hours are still crazy a lot of the time. I am spending less time in Brum and no longer have any digs there, but I am away from home almost as many nights. When I have no meetings I even get to work from home - something I am finding very productive and I am not missing the hours on the M1, M6 and M42 at all. The focus of my role may be about to change again but hopefully it will be just as fun.
The other thing that has been keeping me busy is the theatre - I have been involved in a number of productions this year and really enjoyed it. I am not actually working on anything at the moment - too much work but will be involved again in the near future. I have been really lucky and made some great friends round here, and that's where a lot of both the highs and lows have come from - some great parties and evenings but also some personal losses and tragedies.
Yesterday was a bit of a mile stone - my broadband connection was finally installed - its only taken 3 weeks! This means I have access to the internet again and that I can visit here. I have missed everyone from round here and I am hoping that those I know are still around and still well, and that I will meet some new friends as well. I should probably apologise in advance - I don’t think I will manage to read much of the backlog so please forgive me. With real life getting in the way I don't think I will be here as much as I used to be but I am sure I will be here sometimes!
I look forward to hearing from you all

Yippeee! girl returns!!
The RL sounds brilliant! (!unintentional pun!) & you seem very happy, great stuff!
Do pop into my journal space, we are now (i think!) on "EYE SAY" & say hello, plus De Myelin Nation is still limping(!) along merrily.
Great to have you back; for the joys of broadband!

Thank you all - what a wonderful welcome
Restful weekend Gosho! Sounds lovely. I have my parents visiting for lunch today so we have been trying to get the place ship shape. Knowing my mother there will be lots that is not up to her standards! OJ has offered to cook the lunch which I think was a very smart move - it means I will have to talk to her and he can hide in the kitchen ...
* Helps herself to one of Alec's 's * Cheers Alec - I think I may need this!
GB the 's are wonderful and in the mornings its lovely watching the clouds (well it is at the weekend - during the week its still dark when I get up!) Breakfast in the conservatory, watching the birds and the field is right up there too...
Michelle, Terri, Ormi, PF and 2Legs - fab to see you all again too - what has been keeping you busy?
GD - there are some things I dont forget
