Answering my own challenge on the subject, because PR is looking dry and I only have a dozen more important things to do.

A great entry, which I read with great interest .
One tiny thing: 'Yahoo' isn't capitalised in the first paragraph of 'The Reaction'.

Good work! Just one thing - curly apostrophes. Get some nice, brand new straight apostrophes instead

Very nicely done.
Perhaps the ending could use a little tinkering. After such a good entry, it just kind of sputters.
>>The Compact is unique in its breadth and growth. How long it will last and how large it will grow is anybody's guess.<<
It does seem unique, but not in breadth and growth - it occurs to me that amway, the anti-compact, is probably similar in breadth and growth. and the last sentence could be said about anything. I don't have something to suggest really - but maybe you could find a used quote somewhere.

Interesting & thought provoking.
Three things - well, two & a Q
1. Section The Motto - For me, 'the Gap' needs explanation.
2. Section The Spiritual Inspiration - Black Friday, well, it does come out later, but... Black Friday can mean other things in other places.
3. Section The Reaction, last para - leeching. Should that be leaching?

Thanks - I'm ruminating. Will get around to some action come Monday and w*rk.

Not the result of ruminating, though. Purely 100% post-deadline inspiration.
Anyone else? New criticism, fresh out of the factory (Bangledashian preferred), currently accepted.

Well, excepting the fact that it would become a new entry for the Guide, I guess I wouldn't object too much if it were picked. If it recycled the old A-number instead of wastefully moving to another, it would be better , of course.

Although I've heard of the movement, I'd not heard the title 'Compact', and I must confess I thought it was about womens beauty products. I got the gist very quickly though.
"Craigslist originally started..."
Should this be Craigslist, com or .org or something else? Perhaps make this a direct link to the site?
"A user posts something up for grabs and its location and every and all are free to beg for it. "
Although this sentence works, there seems to be a lot of 'ands'.
"Never forget garage sales and flea markets, excellent sources for super-cheap used goods."
Again, this sentence isn't bad, but I think there's got to be a punctuation mark better than the comma. Maybe a hyphen?
The Church of Stop Shopping is great. In fact, I'd like to know all ten commandments. This is personal though, and it'd probably interrupt the flow of the article.
I enjoyed reading through this muchly. It's a notion that I subscribe to when the opportunity presents itself (although I'm not a freegan).

I'll get to your points. Thanks.
I have the 10 Commandments somewhere - I was doing an article on Black Friday and pocketed a flyer for future reference. Let me see if I can dig around and find it and see if there's anything else of note on it.

Is this ready to go?

Excellent question.
OK, now it is. I don't see myself having much time now to dig up the 10 commandments, and anyway, Vip's right - it would interrupt. I can always post them on the bottom of the entry if they turn out to be side-splitting.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
