28? I am a little surprised, but then not very many were a 'strongly agree' for me. Always some measure of hesitations, I suppose

Mine too was quite low. I was willing to accept my low score as just another sign that I am *not* a people-person. However, I find it decidedly odd that four of us in a row have such low scores.

I scored 54, but I don't trust these tests.
One researcher became very upset that she was scored as being autistic, this was at a time when she was at a particularly low ebb in RL and the test knocked her confidence completely.

I'm obviously male I scored 40.
Otherwise I must admit I've got to much to absorb the philosophical wisdom of this conversation. I just want to say that I value my anonymity. I use the same handle all over in cyberspace, sometimes slightly modified. There are so many usurpators out there
An unusal name, an odd job and intolerant surroundings make a necessity more or less to be able to be here

I've heard that sort of story before, psychocandy (mainly on feminist blogs). I'm fairly open about my real life identity online, but I'm aware that this is a function of my privilege, and that many other people have very good reason for anonymity. Or simply prefer to be anonymous for their own reasons. And that's fine too.
Facebook won't allow me to call myself TRiG even as an "also known as" name. Too many capital letters, apparently.
I was reading something interesting on this subject about Google+ on a feminist geek blog recently, making much the same points. I must see whether I can pull up that link again.
TRiG.

I'd love to compile this all into an entry, along with some other information I got in other discussions. I don't know if it could possibly be done before the big move, but maybe afterward.
Anyone up for a group entry?

I'm sorry if I repeat something raised by others here as I have only scanned the backlog, but:
I choose to post here under a pseudonym as do most of us. Partly this is because of the ethos of the site (handles are cool), but also partly to keep my anonymity. I have read far to many scare stories of employers sacking or refusing to hire someone as a result of something they have posted on the internet to dare to put my real name out ther in connection with some of my posts. Even stuff as innoccuous (sp) as the stuff I post has led to dismissals and blacklisting. I know, I have seen it.
I am worried already by some of the stuff that is out there under my real name. Mainly youthful inanities from the early days of the internet, before I wised up, but also a face book page I have long since abandoned, but I have been unable to jump through enough hoops to have deleted, and someone on friends reunited who is pretending to be me. For what reason someone should do such a thing I have no idea, and it is not too defamatory, so I cannot be bothered to jump through the hoops to sort that out, although I probably should.
However what we have here on Hootoo, being a community, is not truly anonymity is it? There is at least one other researcher who has all the clues, including my real surname, to track me down fairly easily, should he so desire. When we talk about ourselves we cannot help but give clues. That researcher aside, anyone can search my posts and find out enough about me to know where I am from, what I do, roughly how old I am, a little bit about my health, my opinions, my likes dislikes and hobbies. You would not have to be Phillip Marlowe to track me down.
This does not bother me much, because on the whole I trust the members of this community with the information, and I am hopefully balanced and fair enough that none of them will ever want to track me down and kill me.
If I was a mean spirited troll, bully, bigot etc. though all I would have to do is use a public computer, e.g. in the library, adopt a new moniker and a new account, be a bit more careful about personal details, and you would need a team of forensic officers and a police detail to track me down.
It cuts both ways. As most things do.

Hello NormanRHood,
Welcome to h2g2 and to my journal.
>>> is there a history forum here?
There are numerous history & politics entries here: C4
>>> i dont understand this site
h2g2 is very large, so it's easy to get lost at first. h2g2 has entries such as my small contribution to the history collection (A81024428) and conversation threads such as this one, which is my journal. You can start in conversations at the bottom of any entry. You can join in any conversation. You can start a journal, and you can write and submit entries for publication here on h2g2.
How can I help you get the most out of h2g2?

Relating this journal entry to my recent PR entry - trolling, bullying, and the behavior of the player personality type known as Killers are quite similar.
