Things I have learned this weekend:
How to remove the drainage hose from the washing machine (and that I can actually move the washer enough to get back there)
That using the sink declogger wire thing on the pipe that the washer drain hose goes in sounds like a great idea, until the thing gets stuck... (no sign of a clog, either, so pointlessly stuck)
How to remove the back from the washer--and put it back again
That there *is* room to lay the washer on its front to access the stuff underneath (and that that was what I needed to do to access the pump instead of taking the back off )
How to remove (and replace) the internal drain hoses
That none of the hoses were clogged
Neither was the pump
That I can lay a washer down, tilt it back up, and maneuver it all by myself
That when doing a test run to see if it drains, things just might work better if you turn the water back on
That I could've avoided the majority, if not all, of those lessons by doing a test run with an empty washer and something to hold the lid switch down to learn that the washer isn't spinning at all, and it has nothing to do with how the clothing is distributed (still no clue why there was a tiny bit of standing water in the bottom of the washer the other night) *headdesk*
In other news, I had no problem removing the P trap in the bathroom sink and rescuing a tiny toy (and discarding a *lot* of hair )

If it'd make it so that I don't have to hand wring every thing before I put it into the dryer for twice as long as usual, I'd be willing to try...

Mine did a similar malfunction a few years ago. The problem was a 2-piece teflon coupling from the motor shaft to the agitator base. Without the spin, the water doesn't get thrown to the main 'drum' for the pump to clear it . . .
A $20-Cdn part, and about 20 minutes of work with an Allen key - - - and the washer tipped back enough to reach up into the bottom - - - and all was happy again.
Key: Complain about this post
