I haven't posted a journal since NaJoPoMo?
And I haven't exactly been talkative elsewhere on h2g2, but that's not unusual... I have been keeping up with journals and the Atelier and such, though.
So, what's been going on the last few months? In December, I made and sold fudge, enough to help some with Christmas. PaperKid's big Christmas present was a metal loft bed, so that she actually has some space in her part of the room that she and Notepad share (dividing it equally cuts a window in half (and dividing it in the other direction won't work, because the room is long and skinny), and Notepad has quite a lot of toys that need to reside somewhere, so...) and I actually got around to assembling it in less than a month
Both girls are enjoying 4H--PaperKid made a skirt that got 3rd place in the local 4H Home Ec show, and her cookies (which had to have grains (easy), fruit (easy), protein (easy), vegetables (bit more thinking, but not too hard), and dairy (ended up making a topping of cream cheese and vanilla yogurt)) did as well. She's also started archery, and is enjoying it--she got her first bulls-eye at last month's meeting. Notepad is in Clover Sprouts, which is basically to 4H what Brownies are to Girl Scouts. Notepad put some artwork and a bead bracelet in to Home Ec Day, too, but Under 9s don't compete--they get Participation Certificates.
Notepad is now 7.
The chicks we got on PaperKid's birthday/my h2g2 anniversary back in July have been laying nice green eggs for a month or 2 now, and the chicks we picked up in November should start laying any time now (most likely light brown, though the leghorn mix *might* lay white).
I've recently jumped through the hoops to officially make and sell fudge! The permit I have allows me to sell directly to consumers, including at the local farmer's market and craft fairs. I don't need to use a commercial kitchen! The labels clearly state (in mandated 12 point font) that what I make is made in a home kitchen. If I want to graduate to selling to stores, then I need different licensing and to use a commercial kitchen. I've already sold about 15 pounds-worth (weight, not quid--about $100) through word of mouth, repeat customers from Christmas, and Facebook posts. My business cards should be here by the end of the week, and the principal at the school I work at has already said I can leave a bunch in the staff lounge (she also said I didn't have to ask, but she appreciated the fact that I did).
I'm sure that, if there's anything else important/interesting, it'll come to mind as I post

I love fudge and my favourite fudge is rum flavoured fudge. I have had fudge from Devon but it is a bit too rich for me as it is made from clotted cream.
Congratulations Amy and to PaperKid and Notepad for all your wonderful achievements.

I have done some deep and serious research into this matter and have concluded ...
Californy operates on its own clock and calendar - and Notepad cannot be 7 yet. So there.
But congrats on the egg-layers and the sales of the yummy stuffs.

Time running differently would explain how the teens and older preteens I knew in Sacramento can be married and parents now. The fact that we moved 10 and a half years ago has nothing to do with it
