h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In 1 hour, PaperKid will be 8 years old.

A few hours after that, I will have been on h2g2 for a full decade.

The next day, Tom and I will have been married for 14 years.

I want to have everything we're keeping in the trailer by the day after that, Thing by the latest, and things we want stored (boxed things only--we sold most of our furniture this past couple of days--we've just the beds and 3 shelves left) in storage--the things we aren't keeping will stay in the apartment to be sold given away.

Poets the 15th, we're heading out to Lyons, Oregon. My grandpa died a couple months ago, and the family, most of whom I've not seen since before Tom and I were married, will be celebrating his life on what would've been his 86th birthday on the 16th. While we're up there, we'll be going to the zoo in Portland (and possibly having a micromeet with gingersnapper and NuclearConfusion--Mikey definitely can't come down) It's also quite possible that an old high school friend and his family will join us--if not at the zoo, that at Silver Creek Falls--PaperKid is looking forward to walking behind a waterfall, and it's been 20 years since I've been there. It's quite likely that I'll be showing people h2g2--I've always thought that several of the folks on my dad's side would fit into h2g2 quite well, and I thin my old friend would like it, too I'll also be visiting my dad's grave at some point. I have to admit, I'm glad I got dragged onto FaceBook--this trip wouldn't be happening, otherwise, because I had lost contact with every single person from my past that I'll be seeing up there--I probably wouldn't even know Grandpa Hopper had died.

When we get back is when we'll be trying to sell the rest of our excess possessions, and we'll also be cleaning the apartment for the move.

I don't know what's on tap for August, other than getting adjusted to living in a much smaller place--hopefully Notepad will have adjusted by the time school starts in September, or else PaperKid and I will be seriously dragging in school! (First test run, Notepad fell asleep after 1am, and for the second, after 11pm.)

Lots of things to celebrate and look forward to. I can't believe Faith is 8. Good grief!

She has just awakened, and Sausage is now baking in the oven for breakfast

This year, with the moving and the fireworks booth (granted, the booth has been a thing for the last 3 years) and my school year not ending until June 17, a party just never got planned (I realized I'd done no planning about 3 days ago--a bit short notice for anyone but family!) Faith's a trooper, though--she's fine with just having a small family birthday today, and I've told her that next year, we'll start planning before school's out so she can take invitations to school on her last day.

We're headed up to Brookings today. One bit of boring to get out of the way--my car has needed tires since we got it in December I had a flat yesterday, due to a valve-stem leak. Tom managed to jerry-rig a patch for the leak by taping the valve down, so we can safely go the 25 miles to eliminate sales tax. The savings there should fill the gas tank (gas is cheaper in Oregon than in California). The fun bit is a surprise for Faith--we're taking some old extra game consoles to trade in towards a 3DS for the family--for the trip, of course

I'm sure Tom and Jerry have rigged a lot of things.

Your life sounds complicated, Amy. You mention beds in the trailer, but no tables or chairs. Will the family have to eat standing up?

It's fully furnished, mostly with nicer stuff than we sold over the weekend.
