First day at school...

...for both of us. Though for me, of course, it was my first day back, not my first day ever.

I was planning to have Faith dictate an account for PaperBaby's journal, but when I asked what she did today, she replied that she didn't knowsmiley - laugh I do know that she had an apple, a tortilla (seems strange, but OK...) and smiley - milk for snack. And I know she was playing with a very large orange ball at recess, because I saw her when I was looking for someone. I also know that she spent half an hour before going home in Mommy's class, because preschool lets out at 11, and I get off at 11:30smiley - erm it's OK though--I spoke with her teacher and Faith can stay in the preschool room for that half hour, because another school district employee's child does so--only reason Faith didn't today was that I'd already signed her out before I spoke with Miss M. So panic averted. Faith had a good day, despite not remembering what she did (when asked on the way to the carsmiley - laugh)

My day also went pretty well. Most of it was getting to know where things are (we're in a different room than last year) and figuring out schedules (what I do is go to various classrooms and help specific students for specific amounts of time). And temporarily panicking about childcare for a missing half hour. The other aid, the one that stays in the classroom I think of as my base, quit after the end of the school year, and a replacement hasn't been hired yet--or at least can't start yet (I'm a bit fuzzy...) so I'm both right now, at least for 2 weekssmiley - yikes but I'll be getting overtime pay without having to spend more time at work (if I understood correctly) for those 2 weeks.

I was going to say more, but I forgot what it was, as a certain little girl's bedtime came up while I was typingsmiley - ok

My dear Amy,

What a lovely photo of Daddy and Faith on the first day of Faith going to school. I am going to print it and put it up in my "family" gallery!! glad you both had a good day.

Do not worry if she does not tell you about what she did. It was probablly so absolutely breathtaking that she did not know how to start. she will chat in very good time I am sure.

Much affection

Christiane and K.

Hello Amy and everybody! I still remember going to 'Kleuterskool' the first time. (Not sure how to translate 'Kleuterskool' ... on second thought 'toddler school' is not quite the right term ... my dictionary gives the terms 'infant school' and 'nursery school' as translations ... but in truth 'Kleuterskool' is for kids up to five or six years old, i.e. quite a bit older than those terms suggest.)

Anyways when I learnt I was about to go to 'Kleuterskool', I immediately thought we were going to be sitting in benches in classrooms and there would be a teacher with almost military authority telling us exactly what to do and keeping rigorous discipline. Then I arrived at 'Kleuterskool' and instead it was a very nice place with a big cage with little birds living in a huge sociable weaver nest, and rabbits, and there was a big playground with a huge sand pit, teeter-totters and frames to climb around on, and in the classes we could play with Lego bricks, tinker toys, plastic cars and planes and animals, we could draw, we listened to stories, and the teachers were very nice and friendly ladies, etc. etc. and I had huge fun for the three years during which I was in it before I entered *real* school which turned out to be more like the idea I had at first ... and which unfortunately lasted for *twelve* years!!! smiley - sadface

Sounds like it was a fine day for both Ladies. I'll have to remember to follow the link, ... once I am west of the Atlantic again. smiley - smiley

Technically, you're west of the Atlantic anyhow. It's just a question of which direction you're facing. smiley - winkeye
