h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It's been ages since I've been to the mommy's group. *thinks* OK, maybe not *ages*, but it was mid-December the last time I went. In between was Christmas, and of course there wasn't a meeting the Poets after, since Christmas was on a Thing. No group the next Poets. Don't know why I didn't go the next Poets--probably overslept. The *next* Poets, the women's Bible study started up again, and I decided I'd go to those instead of trying to alternate, like I'd done before. Except I didn't make it to the first 3 weks, because I was too to drag myself out of bed in time to go with Tom to get to the church by 9. (The study starts at 10, but since Tom works at the church, it'd be a bit to try to get there at 10 instead--I'd have to leave the house about 9:30ish, probably.) Finally made it last week, to learn that the study's off this week So I decided to go to the mommy's group this week, and see if there's still anyone there I know other than the facilitator (most of the mommies that were there when I started can't go anymore because of w*rk--and the 2 that I thought I might see also w*rk, but their schedules generally allow them to be there)

So anyway, Faith got up a couple times last night/this morning (I've got to learn that it's not warm enough yet at night for anything less than blanket sleepers--though I thought thermals would be OK), the last time being about an hour before I was planning on getting up to get ready to go anyway, so I just stayed up and ate something after she fell back asleep, before she woke to actually have breakfast. Got out of the house in time to watch the go by, but the next would still be OK. Transferred busses OK, and got to the stop nearest the place the group meets at 10, but it's just a 5-10 minute walk, so not too bad. I'm within a few steps of the entrance to the parking lot when C (mommy of C, who's 1 day younger than Faith) pulls upm to let me know the group's been cancelled And of course, like most folks, she doesn't keep an extra car seat in the car (heck, who actually *has* an extra car seat when you've only got 1 child?) so I turned around and headed back. Now, that carrier I got works great--I wasn't feeling any strain from carrying Faith at all. Wish I could say the same for the diaper bag...

But at least I got a nap when we got home. It's just annoying that 1) I couldn't've slept through instead of going out 2) I wasted 2 fares and 3) it wasn't as nice today as it has been (all week, it's been clear and up to 60 (F) during the day).

But meanwhile I've just realized that that I've not gotten Tom anything for tomorrow yet So Faith and I are out again!

I got Tom 2 cards and a bear (that was an offer if you got 2 cards) and a balloon for the bear to hold, because it has magnets in its paws. I put the bear and balloon in Faith's closet until tomorrow, and there must be something sharp in there, because the balloon popped

Hi Amy! Hang in there. The bear with the balloon sounds nice! Can't you get another balloon?

I'd be more concerned with this mysterious sharp thing in the closet!

Maybe the closet's not the best place for the balloon. Is there another place to keep it?

I would've had to go out in the rain again. Lovely all week, and lovely today, but yesterday, the one day I did much running around There's probably a nail in the ceiling or something...
