Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE)

Faith just refuses to go to sleep at anything resembling a halfway decent hour anymore... At least, the long stretch of sleep. I've been able to go to bed at 2 *once* in the last week or so--4's the norm. Twice, it's been 5... We've been sleeping in, so I'm not sleep deprived, (at least on days I don't have to be anywhere before 2 or 3) but I can't get anything done. Heck, I can barely shower!

Her sleep pattern (which I'm trying everything I can think of to change) is to go down between 10 and 11, sleep 2-3 hours, and be up for 3... The other night, she only stayed up about an hour and a half, but there's not been a repeat of that... That was the night I got to get to bed early, at 2smiley - erm Then she sleeps until noon or after. I'm trying to restrict her naps to 3 1 hour ones, but it's not doing anything yet. Hopefully it will, eventually...

Well, there's not been a sound from the crib for half an hour, so I'm going to go peek at her and go to bed myself. Much better than last night/yesterday morning! That was one of the 5 am days...

Lady Scott

As late as she's sleeping in the day, she really doesn't need 3 one-hour naps. No wonder she's up in the middle of the night for hours. She has a schedule, it's just seriously messed up.

I've heard of mothers simply not allowing the baby to nap at all during the day for a day or two (or whatever it takes to get the baby back on a more reasonable nighttime sleep schedule).

Start out by not letting her nap at all during the day after she finally wakes up for the day - every time she nods off, wake her up. I know it'll make her cranky (and probably mommy too), but she'll get over it (you will too - just remember why you're doing this). If that doesn't make her sleep longer at night and go back to sleep more quickly when she does wake up at night, then you may have to start waking her up at a more reasonable hour in the morning too.

smiley - erm I would assume that she's not just crying till all hours because she's teething or sick? That she's just up playing and balking about sleeping? If that's the case, for your own sanity you need to get her on a more reasonable schedule.

So, is Sacramento overtaking New York as the city that never sleeps? smiley - winkeye

Is that an echo I hear? smiley - smiley I agree with Lady Scott. Don't let her take her naps and try waking her up an hour earlier each day, and putting her down an hour earlier each night as well. If all she wants when she wakes in the middle of the night is to play, put some toys in her cot. She won't come to any harm being left to play on her own and she has all her teenage years to sleep in in the mornings!

I don't remember being able to sleep in during *my* teen years. Have things changed since I was a teen--wait, was I ever a teen? Can I even remember that period? smiley - erm

You hit the nail on the head, Granny. How did you know? Or were you relying on the saying, "If you can remember the sixties, you didn't live through them?" smiley - tongueout

smiley - erm I was a teen in the 60's... and yes, I even remember the 60's.

Must have been my non-existant social life to blame.

My memories of 60-ies are a bit foggy. I guess I was doing what Faith is doing atm. I sleep much better now though. So everything will pass eventually, Amy. smiley - winkeye
