I realized (with some help) that me actually being here, to actively support Symphony, is more important than for me to sit on my high horse, boycotting h2g2. Especially since TPTB likely didn't notice anyway that I was gone, nor care if they did (I did link to my previous journal in my resignation from the ACEs) Though my friends have. everyone (But it's Symphony that needs the support...) Plus, others of my friends might possibly need me... And Symphony said they'd support me whether I stayed or left, which, since I left to support them, is a nice little circle...
I've lurked some, mostly to see if anything's happened (ha), so I know Suz's back! Yyyyaaayyyy!! Glad to see you, hon
Quite a few people have asked me offsite how the 'unbanning' is progressing. It's mostly not The Italics *did* acknowledge receipt of documentation, but that was a week ago (see F55683?thread=310233) They're still looking into it... How long does it take to determine that someone's in the UK when you've received copies of their driver's liscence, a bill, etc, etc? Is there something more to this than simply admitting a mistake?
Anyway. I'm not certain if I'm back for good or not, or if I'll get around to updating my hideously-out-of-date space. If it does get updated, I'll let you know. *goes to fix her name*

Hi, Amy.
Nice to see you back. I don't have a clue what the Italics
have to do in order to satisfy themselves that Symphony
is not the banned researcher. I can think of lots of possible
reasons for it to take some time to accomplish. How high is
this on their priority list, for instance? Can they make a
hedonistic calculation that a few minutes spent helping a dozen
new researchers enter H2G2 is more valuable for the organization
than the same amount of time spent unraveling Symphony's
situation? Or perhaps some key person is away on vacation still.
This is a chunk of a fairly large and unwieldy bureaucracy.
Who knows what higher-ups have to be persuaded that the appropriate
protocol has been followed.

I sorta doubt my being on or off will make any difference either way
Paul, you could be right, but that's far too reasonable, so since we *are* dealing with a bureaucracy, it's likely wrong

"I sorta doubt my being on or off will make any difference either way."
1. No one person, speaking out for or against anything, has ever made much difference. It's the chorus of voices, composed of individual who have decided to speak out, that can make a difference.
2. Amy, I think that maybe you don't really understand how well loved you are here. You've got a *lot* of friends. When you left, they all thought something along the lines of "That's really too bad. I'm going to miss her." Of those, a certain percentage also thought "I wonder what she's gotten so worked up about." Of those, a certain percentage decided to find out. Of those, a certain percentage decided that you were right in getting worked up. Of those, a certain percentage spoke up, adding to the chorus of voices.
3. The banning of Symphony was done in secret, with no announcement of any type on the part of the Italics. Secrecy, in my opinion, is not what this site should be about. You've chosen to help expose the secret to the light of day. That, in itself, makes a idfference.

EEEEEIIIIIIAAAA! Welcome back (a true adict can't ever leave the site ) Hows paperbaby doing? I'm busy this weekend; possibly next weekend 'it never rains but it pours' (all good stuff though) So I could call then maybe?

Your point about secrecy is a good one, Ottox.
Amy, you made me with your comment
about bureaucracy. I work in a bureaucracy, too,
and it makes my sometimes. I honestly
wonfer sometimes how our societies can get anything
done considering the way we do things.

Ottox?
I don't think it was me who said that. But I do agree.
Btw., let me use this opportunity to say that it's *not* just folks on the porch and one who left in disgust that cares. Even if it sometimes looks that way.

Given that I haven't made a habit of posting at Amy's space, I can see the reason for the confusion.
And I know that for every person who speaks out publicly, there's another who speaks out in private and another ten who don't speak out, but do care. And I appreciate every one of them.
