Cravings
Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE) Started conversation Apr 9, 2003
People keep asking me if I'm craving anything yet. Some have even offered some of the 'traditional' strange foodstuffs preggie women are supposed to want *shudder* Luckily, just offering in the sense of asking if I want some, not actually fixing, say, a bowl of pickles and ice cream ()
I've also been accused of having cravings, especially when I had some hot-and-sour soup, or got some horseradinsh, *I* say that if I've been eating and enjoying something for over half my life, it's obviously not a preggie craving Especially since it's not like I'm eating tons of an item every day...
At this point, then, I don't have any *real* cravings, though I've been eating a little more lately, and when hanging strawberry baskets show up, I'll buy one, because I figure that'll be a lot cheaper than buying a basket of them from produce departments (or the farmer's market on Wibbles--oh, those nummy ripe nectarines will be here fairly soonish!)
Anyway, while typing this, I've realized the 'traditional' strange foodstuffs are almost certain to be different in different countries, if not in different regions of the same country, and there's a fairly international contingent subscribed to my journal... So what things do *you* tease the pregnant women you know as being certain to crave?

Burnt toast & hot milk with the first, strawberry jam and lemon barley water with the second, and kippers with condensed milk with the third.
My daughter had the same craving every time she was pregnant, which she never usually drinks and fish finger with fried egg butties

should be ok, I'm not one for peanut butter, but I've had pickel sandwhiches, and a bit of peanut butter wouldn't have gone a mis.

That's pica, craving non-food-things...
I like pickles, and I like peanut butter, but no one will ever convince me to try them together... Especially since it's dill pickles I like (can't stand sweet pickles)

Hello,
My cravings were roast pork with lots of salty crackling with my daughter and black with my son, something that I'd never drank before but still can't get enough of 6 years after the birth!
If you want to discuss specific baby stuff please contact me as I am a mad midwife here in the UK

what is gart arg? I agree that black may have been a nicotine replacement as I'd given up. Stared again when the reality of parenthood set in though
