Will we meet again?
Hati Started conversation Oct 27, 2005
I had this wild idea that maybe we could have another meet-up next year or so... Any ideas, suggestions?

I'd be up for that. Depending on time, funds and location, of course.. Might be a bit difficult to get from Scotland to Narvik or Bhutan or something.

Basel, Narvik and Bhutan sound all as not likely as anywhere in Estonia, I'm afraid. I am of course willing to have you all over here. The summerhouse and all - no problems with camping there in summer.

can you have a nordic meet in a non-nordic country?
i'm up for a meet in basel (and even bhutan, if economy should one day allow that, which i doubt very much), but a nordic meet should be held in a nordic country imho
however, travelling to a meet in narvik could easily become as expensive as travelling to bhutan, i'm afraid, so...
how about a late summer meet in hati's summerhouse? i could get there by boat from rostock, germany, or by plane from københavn

The disadvanage here is a relatively big travelling cost to get here. The advantage is relatively cheap local costs. The cheapest in the area, actually.

Ah, crap. The only Baltic country that Ryanair doesn't fly to.
How difficult would it be to go to Riga and then travel from Riga to Tallinn?

Hati Posted Oct 27, 2005
Easy. connection.
Where would you fly from? Estonian Air can be even cheaper than Ryanair or Easyjet.

The goes few times a day, the trip would last about 5 hours and the approximate price for one way is 10 euros.

Well, I could take the Ryanair flight from London (Stansted) to Riga and back. That would probably be pretty convenient, although I'd need to be at Stansted at about 5 in the morning to get the early flight to be able to continue on to Tallinn, cause the late flight doesn't arrive in Riga until about 10:30 at night. And I doubt there are any buses that go to Tallinn at that time of night.
I could also travel to Stockholm and take the Ryanair flight from there to Riga and back, and that would probably be better for planning purposes and flight connections and stuff... Plus, I could stay over at my aunt's place outside Stockholm as well if need be.
Can you tell I'm getting all worked up?

Well, both Easyjet and Estonian Air fly London-Tallinn and are cheap. EA also flies Manchester.
And from Stockholm there is a boat to Tallinn.
Btw, Easyjet will have very good offers from midnight today, for a week. Not known yet though, what they will offer...
And - with travelling to Estonia it's usually cheaper to arrange tickets from Estonia.

Well, Ryanair from Stockholm to Riga would be from about 44SEK which is approximately €4 to about 299SEK (approx €30). Not too keen on the boats.. I get restless on boats. Run out of things to do. Takes too long.
I'll check Estonian Air if things get sorted further on, though. Sounds good.

But you get some great sleep on that 21 hour (or whatever it is) boat trip. Not much else to do, really.
I suggest Longyearbyen for a meet up, just because it's a cool place. And for me it seems no further than anywhere else in Europe at the moment

17 hours. Sleep, eat, dance, drink, whatever... I especially love the view on Swedish end.

I was thinking of the Rostock to Tallinn/Hanko ferry. Dead boring. Not like the party ferrys to and from Stockholm (which I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing, but have heard are fantastic fun).

And then from Denmark you can also drive to Stockholm and take a boat from there.
