-Being in the ocean. Well, not just in really shallow water at the beach, but I would be too terrified to, for example, scuba dive or swim in deep (Even deepish) water. Even swimming pools kind of scare me.

-Being alone in a large, open, empty field. *shudder*

-Being outdoors in the dark.

-Wooden statues. The ones from SE Asia countries (Bali, mostly). Voodoo-type ones. Argh. I hate those things. Probably because of a couple of years ago I was convinced that the one we had in our house was cursed/possesed/whatever. I wrote an entry on it...

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Oh yeah. Being out the middle of the ocean on a sea going yacht, and jumping off the deck for a swim. Who knows just what might be lurking in those depths, waiting to come up and take a nibble, or brush against you just for the hell of it? How do people do that?

Well, being terribly seasick helps! smiley - biggrin
When I've been dragged out on a boat, I'm so relieved to get out that I'd jump into pirahna-filled water (well, almost)

*shudder* Yes, I'm quite the same. What's terrible is that my father spent his life at sea, working up the merchant ladder from cabin boy to captain. I must be a shame to his name!!

Hah, I have to agree, depths can be disconcerting. While not so much afraid of them, I do get a bit nervous when I swim in natural waters where I can't touch the bottom. You never know what could be down there... snapping turtles, muskellunge in lakes around here (hah hah... there's something inherently funny about being attacked by a sport fish in a pond), giant squid, mutant sharks, US Navy S.E.A.L.S., etc. etc. etc. My friends and I joke about this when we're out at the lighthouse, about Navy submarines being in the harbour (in Lake Michigan, mind you). But you just never know. And that's disconcerting.

I had a strange feeling along these lines when I was in New Orleans on a riverboat. There's just something about the Mississippi, but it's just so huge and long and old, there's so much history on it, it's like it could swallow you up and never notice the difference. Creepy.
