A dead marriage

I am in a dead marriage and wish to divorce. My husband of 6 years has not performed his husbandly duties in almost 4 years. And I see no inkling that this will change. So,I have gone elsewhere.I really care about my new partner.I wish to be with him.I have a 6year old son who has medical problems.Every time I try to discuss divorce with my husband,He keeps saying he will take my son with him. That is the only reason I am staying in this so called marriage from hell.I feel trapped here and don`t know how to get out. With my son.I have no where to go if I do leave as I cannot just move in with the other man right away.
I do not love my husband anymore and do not want to try to save this marriage.I just want out.peacefully.Actually I loathe him.

I am no expert, just a guy who was in a dead marriage. If there is no
way back i.e. you have tried marriage guidance you maybe aswell to
contact a solicitor.Depending on country and laws I cannot see a court allowing a father to keep the child unless he is the one who has been caring for the child most.
Do think carefully.
The Father maybe worried about not being able to see his son? enough
if there is a divorce and it maybe this that is stopping him wanting the marriage to end.
In a lot of countries there are organisations that help to house
single mothers with children.
DO THINK OF THE WELFARE OF THE CHILD.
I hope this helps all three of you.

Hi Rosebud, How are you now? Have you managed to move forward, with your son, to a better living environment? Has your sun started shining again? I recognise what you wrote, as I'm in a very similar position, so can maybe understand your fears. Please let me know how you are...
Snowbird.
