Yay! Neat page. Thanks, Cafram. So how about we ask for a mention of this page in next week's Post - see if it drags a few more in off the Aussie streets ....?

Top notch idea Camfram!
Now... if we could only shrink this country to European size so we wouldn't have far to get together.

I know at the moment it seems like most people are in either NSW or Vic (NSW is winning by two, at the moment ), but it'd all be so much easier if Australia were the size of Tasmania...and then of course Tasmania would be even smaller...what a shame...

These plans seem to be spread over about 3 fora - is there any way to get us all together - Linus was at the last attempt at an Aussie meet - he has suggested his local pub in Newtown - close to the Sydney city centre - but not too close - what does everyone else think??
MAAAAAATES!!

MAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!!!!!
When in SinCity I stay with a friend in Manly. I, being a Mexican, have no idea where Newtown is, but the term "local pub" says "yes" to me!

MAAAAAAAAAAATE!! The one with the little girls doing it is best
Maybe if everyone yelled and screamed at the people in the other fora to come here? Then we would have a nice tidy little package to deal with, instead of spread out nastiness...

For some reason the little girls doing it is amusing. The rest are... well... annoying in my mind. LOL
Too muhc of a rip off of the American "Wassap!" commercials without knowing why they were funny in the first place.
I'll keep an eye out for all Aussies on h2g2. Shouldn't be hard to do, as they all wear slouch hats with corks dangling from them, drinking Fosters and chundering a lot when talking to Pommies.

BTW - Newtown is just the other side of the city - easy to get to from Central Station either by bus, train, car. Great pubs - quite busy bohemian atmosphere - lots of good, cheap restaurants too.
Linus suggested it.

Newtown - quite close to Sydney Uni (I guess that only helps if you know where that is - kinda like the circular references in the dictionary: "xyz - see abc" look up "abc" to find "see xyz"; also see HHGTTG for when the Guide starts to do that, I think in So Long and Thanks...)
Yes, I'm in - I'm afraid the last attempt at a meet up was an unmitigated disaster. There I was, picture of Bruce et al in hand, looking around The Australian at the Rocks, but never did manage to catch a glimpse of the bearded one! I guess choosing a popular pub on a Friday night was the first mistake we made.
Don't know what Linus' local watering hole is like, but I haven't been to Newtown since my uni (salad?) days, and t'would be good to take a stroll down amnesia lane...

Shame it's so far from Perth. Hi Tash! Long time no see!

I suggested elsewhere that perhaps we will have to start with simultaneous meetings in the various capital cities...
However anyone that wants to come up to Sydney will be more than welcome

I volunteer to host the party in Adelaide. Since it is likely that I shall be the lone HHTTG rep here, I may bring along some friends to listen to my vernerable tapes of the two album version of the radio play.
PT
PS: does anyone know where I can get a new recording of the two album version. It is my favorite but it appears to be out of "print".

Hey there, Kes - I finally got back my so-called life!
Phonecian - at least you will be spared the embarrassment of looking hard at people you don't know, then at a black and white picture printed from the website, comparing mugs (and feeling like one!)
More fun to you!!!
