Turned up late to the party (again). I used to have a Senaca quote on the wall at home: 'It is pleasant at times to play the madman' Very fitting motto for h2g2?

I would have scooped quite a few points off this thread if my computer hadn't spent the last month and a half undergoing repairs.
By the way, what was klaxoned? I wasn't even able to think of any connections betweek RJ Mitchell and the civil service, so I failed to see what would count as Alany-walany obviousness.
(I was given to understand that RJM died - of cancer - before WWII broke out or, otherwise, never lived long enough to see his creation do what it did in the Battle of Britain).
