I remember my father telling me about a defrocked vicar who used to preach from a barrel on the front at Blackpool and later did a "Daniel in the Lion's Den" act at Skegness before WWII.
I think he'd actually seen him at Blackpool.

The 'more-worthy-than-a-vicar' was dealt a fatal swipe by Freddy The Lion. Abruptly terminating a blemished career.
However prior to that he was tried twice for crimes committed whilst inside the barrel.
What were they?
Prior to that he was defrocked by a consistory court - for what reason?
