We've had a lot of "Cause of Death" style ones lately, but here's another one:

Which official cause of death appeared on an American (US) death certificate for the last time in 1910?

Death through slavery?
Otherwise it would have to be a Victorian mechanism!

Treason?

Mercury poisoning by occupation?

Witchcraft?

Good question!

Is it old age? I.e. since 1910 the Doctor has had to put something more specific down?

Good suggestions - and they're all not it smiley - winkeye

I've only got a few klaxons though, and nobody has tripped any yet. That's the good news.

The "Victorian mechanism" might be in the right direction, though...

smiley - huh Well, that's as clear as mud, then...

Run over by a steam-driven car?

Fell from a hot-air balloon?

Crushed by a threshing machine?

I don't know much about American agriculture... But I know threshing machines were lethal!

Did they have traction engines? Was the person crushed by one?

Tricky!

This reminds me of a bit of old stand up by David Baddiel where he makes fun of the causes of death listed in a "Bill of Mortality" (record of the causes of death within a Parish - each Parish had to keep one by law from 1538). The causes of death included "Planets", "Suddenly", "Distracted" and "Rising of the Lights" and of course plain old "Evil". And "Teeth". Of course they are only funny until they are explained but it amused me at the time.

That's a fascinating list. For QI, how do you die by "Planets"? smiley - bigeyes

Lunacy?

Was it the last person to die on a stage coach

In a cowboy shoot out?

The last person to die in the US cavalry, on horseback, against Amerindians?
