WanderingAlbatross - Wing-tipping down the rollers of life's ocean.

This is my first attempt at launching a QI question so please be gentle with me. Please ignore the Sharks convo, I missed out the QI tag. OK on with the question:

Why should sharks be wary of the Navy?

That's a bit obvious, I think I'll take advice as to whether a klaxon is required. Help please.

Whisky

Lets try a different track...

The world's largest nuclear submarine, the Russian SSBN known under the NATO codename of 'Typhoon' is actually called the 'Akula' class by the Russians... (Doubly confusing because NATO had already named a class of soviet hunter-killer subs 'Akula' long before the first of the new class of Missile Boats was seen.

Akula is Russian for Shark.

So, the Akula's job is to avoid the American and British Navies at all costs.

So its nothing to do with sharks attacking people near Mexico and the Navy being called in to hunt them?

Thats what I was getting at in my last post but was 'testing the water' so to speak

Nooo....I'm afraid that 'testing of the water' gets dumped in the Barents Sea freezer too.

Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic.

Sharks, a naturally inquisitive creature; the question 'why should they be wary' assumes they aren't already.

Yes, small enough to fit into the palm of your hand - remember they are more afraid of you than you are of them.

One is often most likely to find them spinning a web at the back of the shed or lurking underneath a flowerpot in the garden.

...

Oh no hang on that's smiley - spiders isn't it?

Damn.

I always get them confused.... smiley - sharksmiley - huhsmiley - spider
