OK - I've got your attention then. smiley - smiley

Every mite in the world is female ~ there has never been a male mite born. Though to be fair mites aren't actually born, they eat their way out of their mother's body.

So what happens to the boys ?

I would imagine that rather than being born, they fertilise a select few eggs instead and take no further action.

Taff Agent of kaos

during gestation the males fertilise the females who then eat the males and the mother on their way out

thus all female mites are born pregnant

I give up.

Yes. The female mite makes precisely 15 egss which grow inside her body.

Of these 15, 1 is male and the others females, the male mates with all his sisters, then dies. The females, who are now all pregnant, eat their way out of their mother's body, and it all starts over again.
