Yeah, but google 'helicopter over everest' for a fair few hits! The summaries have it both ways.

The answer is the Mirny(i) Diamond Mine, a ruddy great big hole with a town on the edge in deepest darkest Russia, recently popularised thanks to Google Earth. The town is accessible by permit only, and the only access for visitors is by plane. The runway was cut short by half a mile because of subsidence at the edge of the mine, so all approaches fly right over it. Helicopters, though, are banned after several accidents caused by a sudden lack of ground effect.
