h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

While 'In On The Killtaker' was a fantastic album, and 'Red Medicine' still gets a lot of air time around my house, my favorite has always been 'Steady Diet Of Nothing' because of the beautiful duet in the intro to 'Long Division'.

As an aside, the first bassline I've ever bothered to learn the entirety of was 'Waiting Room', phenominal music. Excelent flow to it all.

The only problem with being a fan of 'Fugazi' is that just as soon as I turn a friend on to them, all my cd's vanish. Weird effect. I've just given up on keeping any of their cd's for any length of time, but and still upset about losing my last, and fifth, copy of 'Thirteen Songs', which is the only way I can find the first two ep's. Sad, sad world we live in.

Well, Steady Diet... has it's proponents, on h2g2 we have Big Mad Mr T who I may point in this direction. My problem with the album is probably that I haven't listened to it enough, which is real unusual for a Fugazi album.

I hear you on waiting room, maybe not the first bassline I learnt but definitely one of the most enjoyable.

As to the problem of theft, two suggestions : 1) Buy a big safe. Store records there. 2) I hear that Fugazi are remastering and rereleasing all their albums soon. So buy those then go to 1).

Hell Yeah! Fugazi's re-release would be a great boon. Do you know if there will be other Dischord re-releases? I've lost some fantastic albums over the years, and some of those were on Dischord by bands that just aren't anymore. I'd love to have a chance to replace them. The only one I can remeber right offhand is Grey Matter, wonderfull band. I recommend listening more to 'Diet' if you have the time. Not quite on the level of 'Smallpox Champion', but the whole album grips me.
