It can be difficult deciding what to eat while on H2G2. Food needs to be quick, easy to eat with the hand not occupied with the mouse and non-messy. Do you have any recipes or suggestions for making meals and snacks H2G2 friendly?

I find crisps pretty good, you can lay the open bag on the desk and eat with one hand;
this food-sort does carry a health warning;
"Warning, crisp crumbs can seriously mess up your keyboard"

Carrots are highly recommended food! They are healthy, can be eaten with one hand, and are fat-free so they don't harm your keyboard.

How about celery, for a similar reason to carrots?
Or, fruit? I suppose that fruit might be less keyboard-friendly...

I've discovered a safer way to eat satsumas while on-line. Peel and segment them away from the keyboard, then eat with non-mouse hand. Voila!

Well, I just had lunch, whilst on here; sandwichs, I guess they are fine as long as you don't directly eat them, and hence crumb them over the keyboard/mouse; hoping they have a solid-non-fallible-out-filling!

I've discovered my h2g2 meal. I put anything grillable under the grill while my computer is booting up (it's old so takes a little while), then I log onto the internet (slow modem) and while the hamster runs round in his wheel powering the modem, I butter some bread. Then I flit around h2g2, pausing to turn whatever's under the grill. Voila, a hot meal, that's filling and easy enough to eat over the computer. Only 2 warnings:
1. Don't get so engrossed in your postings that you are only aware your dinner is cooked because the smoke alarm has gone off.

2. Beware of dripping butter over the keyboard.

Top-Tip: Invest in some kitchen roll, it's well worth it.

Or try an industrial level keyboard (the ones used within factory buildings, with elastic plastic covers) and eat what you want smiley - smiley

they are around on the market, just do a search for 'splash proof keyboard' smiley - smiley

Another option: something I would call a riot-proof keyboard, made of stainless steel and sometimes seen on ATM's !

I'me not sure if these type of keyboards would be as quick to type on as a regular keyboard, which givs me 30-50 WPm, depending on how accurate/drunk I am.....

but I guess they are faster than a wine/tomato sauce/coffee-covered thingy with some keys out of function and others which tend to rrrrrrrrrrrrrrepeat without being told to.

I recommend peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. A classic! And everything sticks nicely together, with very few crumbs.

At risk of wandering off the point of this thread:

Cantonese Noodles: (vegetarian)

Pretty quick actual meal which was short enough from me to eat before coming here this evening.
Serves one:

Chop: half courgette (also known as zuccini), half paprika (also known as bell peppers, red green or yellow), as much fresh ginger you require, some broccoli, two handfulls of shitake mushrooms.

Boil water for noodles (thin kinda like spaghetti type things).

Fry ginger, paprika, and courgette together.
Add chinese five spice (also known as all spice) powder, nutmeg, and lemon grass.

Add noodles to boiling water.

After courgette starts to look a little bit cooked, add the mushrooms and broccoli.

Douse everything in liberal helping of Dark Soy Sauce.

4 minutes after adding noodles they should be ready. Drain them, add to vegetables, and douse everything in liberal helping of Dark Soy Sauce.

This recipe took me only 15 minutes to create this evening, and another 15 to destroy as I made far too much smiley - biggrin, but it tasted great.

Share and Enjoy smiley - winkeye

Sadly(?) peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a joy(?!) I will never be able to experience due to the annoying risk of anaphylaxis, so I will have to just enjoy them by proxy.

vogonpoet - you handy chef you. Will that now keep you going for the next 24 hrs?
