In the real world, the universe of pirates does not intersect with that of nursery maids. However, Paulh was in the world of Gilbert and Sullivan, where Ruth -- official nursery maid of the Pirates of Penzance -- was being offered to him as a wife in exchange for a promise not to make him walk the plank.

While he decided whether to marry her, a mermaid leapt from the sea, grabbed him, and brought him down into the murky depths. Suddenly a look of horror appeared on her face and she abandoned him. He soon discovered why, as something hard and warty came up under him. He rose high into the air, and found that he was on the head of a huge monster.

"Get off me!" the monster bellowed.

"I can't safely do that from this altitude," Paulh replied. "Put me down on the nearest island and we'll call it a deal."

"I am Gojira," the monster said. "Every thirty years I rise from the sea bed and lay waste to the nearest big city...."

"That would have been Tokyo in 1952 and 1982, wouldn't it?" Paulh hazarded a guess.

"Yes," said the monster. "However, I have wandered far since 1982. Boston is the nearest city,so I guess I'll destroy that."

That was where Paulh lived. He fainted.....

Not good.

Gojira may find the Boston Irish harder to deal with than he imagines.

Godzilla's gonna be a bit miffedat an intruder to his patch

Gojira and Godzilla are one and the same. Remember, the Japanese lose the ability to distinguish "l" from "r" by the time they're three years old.
