How can anyone chose a favorite? They are all wonderfully funny. I loved backwards. Especially the fight scene. My favorite line of all time is "We won't be apart, we just won't be together". I am a bit of a romantic.

Agreed Lady B, all the episodes are funny but my fave line is from Gunmen...
Cat: Isn't there something we can do? Isn't there some way we can get into his head? Isn't there some kind of machine out there that can do that? And if not... why not?
Rimmer: Look, I think we've all got something to bring to this conversation. But from now on I think the thing you should bring is silence.

There's an excellent gag in The End which hardly anyone I know seems to have noticed yet...
When Rimmer's just finished writing notes all over his body and Lister asks him if he's all set, and he pats his bum cheeks while saying "there's a couple of blanks...." is just fantastic.

well, its a theory, right, that you only tell your relatives.

Yeah, they're all brilliant. I wasn't thrilled with the way Series 8 went, though. They should have had the nanobots rebuild Red Dwarf and that's it. I'd still like to know how they brought all the humans back to life.
It would have been funnier if they just had the ship back and they went on to have some more wild times in space and on weird planets before eventually returning to Earth and then having more wild times.

I never got to see series 8. Somehow I don't know if I really want to... the others were so brilliant... .What I loved about Red Dwarf was the way you could still find the lines funny and still remember them years later. There was this one episode, White Hole, where they got caught in a time thingy and kept having to repeat bits of the same conversation... and the Cat would say "So what is it?"... and by the time you'd seen that episode loads of times you'd know the whole thing off by heart.

Hi all, my first ever post on h2g2. Love RD, but over the years my fav episode has changed regularly. Some of my favs: Backwards, Polymorph, Gunmen of the Apocalypse, Meltdown, and prob my fav of the moment, Back To Reality. Also I have a soft spot for Rimmerworld, which in most fav lists I read gets little mention, but I've always liked it. Series 7 and 8 - like most people, not keen on these, but a few good episodes, esp Krytie TV and Cassandra.
