It's my 7th h2g2 birthday today!
Peta Started conversation Apr 27, 2006
Wow, seven years!
I can't believe I'm still here, that first day in Goo seems so very very far away now!
Please have a glass of bubbly to help me celebrate!

"Congratulations
Busy on other sites:
>I completely agree with you on the self-policing, that works incredibly well on some of our boards, but not others. The h2g2 site http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2 has been run this way for years, and the 'Researchers' there self police beautifully - it makes it so much easier and nicer really.

Thanks for the link Jimi - that *always* makes me smile. I loved that at the time, I was so in *awe* to see that, little did I know I'd end up working with the guy! Just love it!
And thanks all, it's been an absolute pleasure being able to meet you all through my work, I'm sure I'd still be here if I was a Researcher, you're all just fab!
And have another one with me GB - Cheers!

for Peta!
You should start another party at U15551. There's a lot of cobwebs though.

Congratulations!
That means it was 7 years ago that I first saw this site on the tv and thought that it'd be cool if I only had the internet...

Mine must have been 26th April then (wasn't that the date of the tomorrow's world show?)
Doug and I will have met in RL 7 years ago on 31st May! How scary is that?

Yeay! A load of the old names are still here!
Seven years Ginger, congratulations! Was the rounders match on Clapham the first time that you met?
Mark and I have been together for six years now - hurrah for the web!

Hurrah for the web indeed.
Since Jimi felt the need to post pictures, here's a few more.

Douglas' office circa June 1999, with not-Douglas sitting in the chair. Not sure who that was, though I'm fairly certain he was allowed to be there.

*All* of the 42 autographed Illustrated Guides, which had not yet been mailed at the time of the visit. Mine's the one in the middle (it was my ostensible ticket in, too: "Hello, I've come to London from California to pick up my book.").

A picture sure to horrify Jim. Those two taller servers *were* h2g2 (Ursula and Phoebe were their names). The smaller was the just-launched and very secret Ripley, which is now so not secret it's mentioned on h2g2's Wikipedia page.

Most importantly, Peta and yours truly, Miami, March 2000. That was a good trip.
Happy 7th, Peta.

Spartus!
How great to see you back here!
How's things?
Miami was brilliant, I can't believe that we all managed to get that one together. I still see Ant around from time to time, and Chris is now a daddy, so we've all moved on a bit..
I still look *exactly* the same though..
