Well, we do get it all the time. Lazy thinkers.
Of course, I don't like being accused of being a Yankee, either.
I tell them I came from a border state. We sent boys to both sides and all ours came home...

Right.
I live in Temple and I used to live in Georgetown and Austin.
I used to work in a Hardware store in Belton.
Right.
Nobody speaks like a hillbilly.
Like a hick, maybe...
a redneck, fer sure!
Or, as my wife, who was born and raised in Houston and used to work in the Valley, says," No hillbillies. Cajuns, Czechs, Poles, Bohunks, Latvians, Serbs, Scots, Irish, Welsh, Laotian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Persian, Peruvian, Mexican and Armenians, all talking like true Texans. Which means people spend a lot of time going,'Say what? Come again?"
But then I haven't spent any time around those Metroplex cities...
so I might be missing the cosmopolitan flavour of the few English speakers found there.
So, I apologise for generalizing.
