This might be unrelated to these posts, but I must say I have a pathetic New York accent. I need to learn for a drama production, but when I try I sound like a brithish hillbilly! Am I trying to over prounounce the words or something???? 
Ugh, I'm never gonna get it!

Hi there, little ducks! Noo Yawkas talk very fast, and clip off the ends of their words, so be sure to rush through what you're saying ... I know that I do! 
Maybe you could post some of what you're trying to say in your drama, and I could translate them for you!
