What about The Film then?(I think you what I mean) Particularly casting. Are there any plans to have original main cast members for instance?

I would love to see the film cast the original actors from the series, but could this actually happen? When was the series filmed? I thought it was late seventies, very early eighties?
I guess the question is this:
Will DNA and the film producers decide to get new actors to appeal to a younger audience who may not know much about HHGTTG?
or
Will they get the original actors because fans know the faces, voices and posture of Arthur, Ford, Zaphod and the crew so well that seeing some other actors playing the roles might cause confusion and alarm?
Whoever plays the parts, I think it will be interesting to see what kind of technology and special effects they use. The visual appearance, locations etc. should be interesting and we all know the script will be brilliant..........
I can't wait.

Well, it will certainly be better than the Phantom Menace, anyway. Out of curiosity, do you know if the actors from the BBC series were the same as the actors from the radio series? I've never seen it, just heard it...

Some of the actors in the Radio play made it to the TV series, I believe, like Arthur Dent, Zaphod, Marvin and The Book, but a lot of the others, esp. Ford Prefect and Trillian, were played by different characters. I got the TV series a couple of weeks ago in a HMV sale. I think it was made in 1982.
The whole idea of the film is VERY exciting, but what REALLY would excite me is a new Radio series - DNA may have managed to cop out of writing more books, but the radio play is very open, and each time I hear it a voice says "Finish Me - we need to know what happens!"

When I wrote the reply I hadn't actually seen who I was replying to, but lo and behold, it's you. Hi again, we keep going to the same forums, it seems!

Hmmm... there must be a common thread here... perhaps we should help Douglas Adams write a film about people who are addicted to Beatles music? er...

Douglas Adams, the man himself? Hmmm......Mr Adams, will you consider writing a book for me about cannibalism? There are hardly any on the market anymore and I'd LOVE to make a film about the subject.

Post eggs and HHGTTG movies are alike in exactly the same way that a raven is like a writting desk. Or maybe not.

that's exactly what my analyst says when I say things like that!

It's going to take great restraint not to say something about being under attack...

So you feel under attack do you.....
That will be 6 million Alterian dollars!!!
*** Back to the film - Does anyone know what the budget for the film is going to be and will it be heavy in computer effects???
