Removal of url's and censorship

Why in heaven's name would a url to an early medieval history journal be removed from one of my forum postings? And what is this I hear about sabs roaming the guide and hitting the censorship buttons on people's messages and fora for fun. This is not a good system in my mind and leaves us open to lowest common denomenator censorship. Not happy about this guys. Not why I joined this site. Me and some friends are leaving the guide for a while until it has returned to some level of normalcy.
Yours in dissapointment

Bran - in order to be able to look into this I need the URL of where it happened. Titles should be not be moderated out, but as a matter of course it is BBC policy to remove URLs from postings. If you give me the URL I will check it.
I am sorry that you feel that you cannot stay with h2g2 for the moment but obviously that is your decision. Hope everything goes well for you.

Hi Abi The url for the post is below: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F17123?thread=100711&post=855571#p855571 Sorry if I appeared snappy, but I have heard a number of probs voiced about the censorship buttons, and that people are leaving the Guide. I am sorry too that people feel this way. Thanks for your help Bran

Don't forget that it's against our house rules to abuse the complaints button. anyone who does so will have their account suspended. And if the complaint is not upheld, nobody will notice a thing, because posts aren't hidden just because somebody has complained. Only if the post needs to be referred or the complaint is justified would the post become hidden.

We truly understand the way the Community feels about moderation. I personally know that it is at the moment neccessary (a legal requirement for the BBC) but am not happy with the way the system works. But we are working my hardest to improve the system and Community feedback is paramount to this.

Thanks for this Jim and Abby. I hope that it can all work out so that most people are happy most of the time!
All the best
Bran.
