Excellent geographical entries outside the Edited Guide

Post 1

Number Six

I've been thinking about this quite a lot of late - the Edited Guide format doesn't necessarily fit particularly well with geographical entries. Personal recommendations are out, for starters, and I think that's one of the areas where the Guide can score well - where we can give better information than most of the other sources out there. I think this is something kind of hinted at in A550955...

Take erkle's entry on Hitch-hiking through France and Spain (A2514296) - excellent entry, but he quite rightly decided that it'd lose a lot of its flavour if *all* the first-person references were taken out.

And also given Agent X's 'Assignment h2g2' idea that I'm planning to submit to smiley - thepost in the near future, perhaps we should have a place to list and publicise the better geographical entries outside the EG - what d'you think?

That would be a good idea - can I recommend the fantastic A92026 and A4448571 for starters?

There are loads more. I would recommend structuring it like a shadow of the EG geographical format.

Remarkable what you've been doing while I was not paying attention... smiley - smiley

I also agree that the EG is not always necessarily the best place for geographic entries, and there should be a place that is. smiley - ok
